Russian Painting.
Lydia Davidenkova.

An acclaimed artist of Contemporary Realism, Lydia Davidenkova was born in Leningrad (today St. Petersburg) and received her first lessons in painting at the studio of A. Eberling. She studied in Special Art school and afterward, in the Repin Academy of Arts. She became a professor at the Academy after graduating in 1966. She is a member of the Russian Artist's Union and has participated in more than 100 Russian and International exhibitions in addition to 8 exhibitions dedicated solely to her works. Lydia has placed works in private collections throughout Europe and the USA.

Lydia Davidenkova's talents are revealed in her portraits, landscapes and still-lifes. Her landscapes contain delicate and refined color combinations mixed with a personal poetic expression. Her portrait painting focuses on key representatives of the arts and sciences, including many historical portraits. The principal themes of her paintings are the man and town and her most complex theme is that of time, in which she expresses the unseen season of love and dream, and which she calls "the fifth season". Lydia Davidenkova works primarily in St. Petersburg, but also works in Paris, London and Monterey.

We take great pride in presenting classically-trained contemporary artists from St. Petersburg, Russia. The art below represents their journey since the time of communism. The artists have gathered together paintings and have asked us to offer them to the public. Some of these paintings may be assessed as studies and others are executed to perfection. We are, however, aware that some paintings need some work in restoration for the satisfaction of the customer. We are more than willing to work towards correcting these deficiencies. Should a purchaser have concerns, we have an in-house restorer.
