A Short History.
The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on the Nerl River
is situated at the meeting place of the Nerl and Klyazma Rivers in
Bogolyubovo, near the ancient capital of Vladimir. Commissioned by
Andrei Bogolyubsky in 1165 to commemorate his son, the church was at one
time connected with Andrew's stone castle. The church is built from
white stone, has one dome and four columns in the interior. The walls
are still covered with 12th-century carvings.
Church of the Intercession today.
