Chaika GAZ-13. This was an elite
car used only by Communist party officials. Made in the Gorky Auto
Plant, the design of the Chaika (Seagull), the plant's flagship, was
influenced by US automakers. It was fitted with an 8-cylinder 195 hp
V-engine, a quad carburetor, a steering booster and hydroshift
transmission. The car featured a push-button selection of speed and a
power antenna. The body accessories included: electric windows,
windshield washer, a multi-range radio, and fog lamps. The GAZ-13 was
awarded the Grand Prix at the World Auto Show in Brussels in
1958.
