Theotokos With Seven Arrows.

This icon appeared in Russia from Poland in the early 18th century. Its feast days are during the Week of All Saints, on February 2/15 and on August 13/26. The Mother of God is depicted alone, without the Divine Infant. She is pierced by seven arrows: three on Her left side, three on Her right and one in the center. According to the Russian Orthodox Church, this particular icon has assisted in miraculous healings of the sick. Other name for this image is "The Softening of Evil Hearts". Before the Communist revolution (1917), this icon was enshrined at St. John the Theologian Bogolyubsk-Seven-Arrow Church, a small country church on the banks of the Toshin River, not far from the town of Vologda.
Painted on wood, finished with a clear lacquer. Gold details and gold halo. Back reinforced by "shponki". From Russia. 5¾"x7". [#IC-THSA1.]

$395. 1 only.
