| A Russian
Orthodox wedding tradition is to have present at the ceremony a special pair of
icons, one of the Savior, Jesus Christ and the other of the Mother
and Child. During the service the icons are held within the folds of an
embroidered linen cloth by children (in lieu of ring bearers).
These same icons then become the couples "wedding icons" and are given a
place of high honor in the home of the newlyweds.
These modern-day traditional Orthodox icons are painted in an exacting manner from Russian and Byzantine originals. Painted on wood panels by master iconographers in Russia and finished with several coats of lacquer. Each comes with a certificate of authenticity. Sizes are approximate. Please note that we use image-piracy protection on many of our website images. Naturally, the actual icons do not have this image-piracy protection painted on them. |
