Antique Biscuit Tin with
"View of Moscow from the Kremlin"

    Embossed lid titled, "View of Moscow from the Kremlin." (Mansfield Lithoplate #545.) Embossed royal ormalu and perched eagles amidst lithographed, swirling malachite. Tin was probably sold as early as 1901, under King Edward VII. The biscuit manufacturers, W & R Jacob & Co., Ltd. are, at this time, under "Appointment to H.M. The King." A book by Woodfield Press, W & R JACOB: : Its Impact on Dublin Life 1851-2000, was published in 2001. In the scene, Christ the Savior Cathedral is shown as it once appeared before its destruction in 1931 ordered by Josef Stalin. (Happily, the Cathedral was rebuilt in 2000.) The condition is good. No dents, structurally solid. Some scratches and one foot has been resoldered and reglued. 7"x4.5"x5". See pictures below.
