A set of 3 vintage circa 1905 fine chromolithographic plates that have been colored by hand. They originally were part of Genera Avium [opens in a new window], a portfolio of prints published by V. Verteneuil and L. Desmetin in Brussells. This rare and expensive portfolio contained significant contributions by P.L. Sclater, R. Bowdler Sharpe, W.R. Ogilvie-Grant, E. Hartert, C.E. Hellmayr, and T. Salvadori. The fine color plates are after paintings by the noted bird artists Keulemans, Gronvold and others. The images in this set measure about 8 1/2" by 11". They were taped into mats and are in good condition. More information by request.
