The Tale of "The Scarlet Flower" is analogous to the Western fairy tale "Beauty and the Beast." The mythical flower resides only with the Beast, who is an enchanted Prince.
Evmenenko is a very important artist of the Fedoskino school. He was born in 1949 in the village of Marino in the Moscow region. In 1968 he obtained a distinction at the Fedoskino Art School, where he studied under the following masters: V.D. Antonov, V.F. Baranov and S.V. Moshmanov. In 1970 Evmenenko began to produce original "author" works in the traditions of Fedoskino lacquer miniatures. Some of his works are housed in the museum of the Fedoskino workshops: "The Little Humpbacked Horse", "Troika", "Tsar Saltan" and many more. His prefered themes are fairy tales, genre scenes and landscapes. Evmenenko also taught in his own Fedoskino School from 1975 to 1991, and received the prestigious "For the Achievements of the Motherland" award in 1995.
