young men try to break into the circle. The artist has painted an
interesting study with ten figures in a small space. Egg tempera,

Nekrasov (1821-1878) tells the tale of Vanka, the itinerant peddler,
whose patter charms the pretty village girl, Katya. She takes his ring
and he vows to return when he finishes selling his wares and lead her to
"God's Holy Church". One of Russia's greatest folk songs. Oil paints,
lacquer, metallic powders, silver. Hinged papier-mache box, no border decoration. 4¼"x3"x1".
