Alyonushka (aka Alionushka) is one of the most beloved subjects in the Fedoskino stylebook. The original painting was by the the Russian artist Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov (1848-1926), who was a key figure in the Russian Revival style and whose specialty was mythological and historical subjects. Oil, lacquer, hinged papier-mache box. Freehand perimeter scroll work. 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 1 1/2". This is a vintage lacquer box in very good condition with some scratches on the bottom, but is otherwise excellent for the collector of older boxes.
