A "muzhik" (19th century Russian peasant) stretches out on the ground. His partner-in-crime is fast asleep nearby. An empty bottle gives an indication as to the what has transpired. This is a unique miniature painting of a 19th century rural Russian genre scene.

Oil paints, lacquer, metallic powders. Papier-mache box (for tobacco or snuff) with a tiny round hinged lid. The small box is additionally painted to resemble lapis lazuli. A nylon rope has been drawn through a small ring attached to the side of the box.
4" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/4".
