     Colorful troika carries two young couples through the winter snow. The village houses can be seen in the distance. A troika is a traditional Russian method of travel, especially during the winter, that was developed in the 17th century, and which uses three horses abreast to pull a sleigh.

Hinged rectangular box. Some of the painting has been done on a freshwater shell which has been set into the top of the box. Two border decorations. Oil paints, lacquer, papier-mache. 7 3/4"x 5" x 3".
