The
"Lomonosov Porcelain Factory" in St. Petersburg is over 250 years old. It was established
on the banks of the Neva River in 1744 by Empress Elizabeth, daughter of
Peter the Great. This venerable firm continues to make wonderful
porcelain using Old World methods and traditions of firing, glazing, hand painting
and precious metals decoration. Russian porcelain has only recently
become a topic of great interest for experts and porcelain lovers
throughout the world as documentation in the form of books and pamphlets
has become available. The purchase of any piece or set from Lomonosov is
an excellent investment as well as a source of great enjoyment. The
Lomonosov factory has over 200 figure designs!
