Before the break-up of Communism, Soviet leaders permitted Charlie Chaplin movies to be widely shown throught the USSR. Chaplin's humor was mostly physical and he satirized Hitler and Fascism. Chaplin became an instant and beloved celebrity in Russia. This doll is an artist's original by Oleg Savchuk of Moscow, painted in 1992.
