Russian Fairy Tales
Collector Plates.

Russian Fairy Tales and Legends.

The heyday of plate collecting coincided with the breakup of the Soviet Union. The confluence of these trends produced a cornucopia of Russian plate production. Easy to produce and market to an overeager group of buyers, eventually over 100 different plates were manufactured. It was a veritable treasure house of plate-making, selling and collecting. Production began in 1988 and slowed down finally after the Millennium. Favorite themes included RUSSIAN LEGENDS (1988), THE FIREBIRD, THE SNOWMAIDEN, THE SEASONS, ORTHODOX CHURCHES, ZHOSTOVO, RUSSIAN ICONS and many more. It seemed at the time as if the supply was endless!
