A fine porcelain and pewter demi-grande stein depicts The Wedding of Elena the Fair, a scene from "The Legend of the Firebird". The scene shown here is based on an original work of art by the Russian fine-arts master Boris Zworykin (born 1872). The turn-of-the-century originals, together with others, are today housed at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art . Zworykin's work is a prime example of the Russian art of ornamental illustration, and is heavily influenced by the traditions of Russian icon painting. The reproduction of this sublime image onto porcelain involves the faithful transfer of the artist's sensitive brushwork and brilliant colors. It is comprised of 28 individual colors with hand applied gold. It comes gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.

These 6" steins were made in (at the time) West Germany by Mettlach and exported by Villeroy and Boch Edition was limited to 12,500 pieces worldwide. The production of these steins coincided and celebrated the 1,000th anniversary of the Mettlach Tower, which mark is impressed into the base.
